The first season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation premiered on CBS on October 6 2000 and ended on May 17 2001. It was rereleased on Blu-ray on May 12 2009. This is the only season of the CSI franchise that was broadcast in the 4:3 aspect ratio. It was however filmed in 16:9 and the widescreen versions of the episodes are present on the Blu-ray release. |

Only 11 episodes had been completed and aired before the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike. Only six more episodes were made after the strike for a total of only 17 episodes which makes Season 8 the shortest season so far in the CSI franchise. Jorja Fox signed on for only seven episodes for the eighth season. Some international broadcasters only showed the first part of the crossover Who and What because Without a Trace didn't air at the time. |

The thirteenth season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation premiered on September 26 2012 on CBS and concluded on May 15 2013. In episode thirteen of the season CSI staged a two-part crossover with its spin-off show CSI: NY in which Gary Sinise marked his first appearance in CSI and as his CSI: NY character Mac Taylor; Cast member Ted Danson subsequently appeared in the CSI: NY portion of the story. Former cast member William Petersen also returned as Gil Grissom for a voice over in the episode Dead Air on the phone with Sara. This appearance was uncredited. On March 20 2013 CBS renewed CSI for a fourteenth season scheduled to air in the fall of 2013. The Region 1 DVD Boxset will be released on September 17 2013. |
